The Eagles travel west to Dallas for an NFC East(?) matchup. For weeks we have been warning our subscribers that the Eagles have been the beneficiaries of extraordinary luck via the receiving end of the most outlier events in the NFL, their defense in particular.

Dallas has been fast rising up our Power Rankings due to their offense and its potency. However, we’ve also indicated to you via our Environmental Control Chart that their defense has been very susceptible to external control via opponent quality.

Their best performances of the season (6 games holding opponents to a score prevention behavior of 0.6 or lower) have come against opponents with a combined 0.284 winning %.

Their other six games have been against opponents with a combined winning % of 0.524. In those games they had a score prevention behavior of 0.8 or worse, giving up a score prevention behavior of at least 1.1 point allowed for every minute of opponent possession time three times.

One of those teams? The Eagles.
